I also have 3 boys, twins that are now 4 and my 3rd boy is now 2 1/2 and have been searching for DIY sandbox/garden ideas. Good job on your dads part that was very sweet of him. I plan on building a large square/rectangle with half of it for the boys to play in the dirt and the other half our veg. garden. If all goes well the boys and I can garden and when they get tired of that they can play on their side of the box in the dirt. When they are all too big to play in the dirt then I will just convert the box into a larger garden...I am very excited, and just wanted to share my idea with you.
