GIVEAWAY ~ Bissell Little Green Machine (closed)

by mommy23monkeys on April 4, 2009

1400-l

Do you have kids?  Then you have stains!  And since you have stains, you NEED a Bissell Little Green Machine.

I really don’t know how I survived my life before I got this amazing little machine delivered to my door.  We have a big carpet shampooer/steamer thing.  It’s huge.   But I’ve always appreciated having it…came in handy after all 3 boys suffered a stomach bug!  Well, wouldn’t you know that one of the twins conveniently suffered a stomach bug right after I opened my new Bissell?  Yeppers.  I was actually happy the little guy was sick because it meant I could really try the thing out.

Let me not get ahead of myself here.

bissell2

My Bissell arrived at my door courtesy of Wal Mart and Bissell in conjunction with Wal Mart’s Earth Month celebration.  Wal Mart currently has a You Tube channel devoted to environmental tips and reviews.  I made a couple videos that might end up on there before the end of the month. :)   How’s that for special?  One of my videos happens to be the following Bissell Green Machine review.  Take a look…don’t laugh!

The thing I loved most about this little machine?  It REALLY works!  And it works fantastic!  As you can see in my video, it took that dining room stain up in no time at all.  I don’t even know what that stain was it had been there so long.  But as I mentioned above, Dennis got sick like 3 days after making my video and he barfed all over the hallway.  I just whipped my Little Green Machine out and had the stain cleaned up lickety split.  Before I had this machine, I would have wasted an entire pack of baby wipes cleaning it up.  How’s that for not being environmentally friendly?

Speaking of environmentally friendly…Bissell has put a lot of thought into this version of the Little Green Machine.  They took out all the PVC from the holding tanks and hoses, built it using no less that 50% post consumer recycled plastic, they reformulated the cleaning solution and they repacked the machine with all cardboard…no styrofoam or PVC inserts.

bissell1

And the boxes make for fun, too!

bissell3

So this month, do yourself, and the Earth, a favor.   Get yourself a Bissell Little Green Machine.  You can buy one right from Bissell, or you can pick one up from Wal Mart.    I promise that you won’t be disappointed by this compact, powerful and Earth friendlier little machine.

Oh, but wait a second…..

I have one to GIVEAWAY!  YAY!

Would you like to WIN yourself one of these handy little gadgets?  Of course you would.  Courtesy of Bissell and WalMart, one of my very lucky readers will get one of their very own shipped to their door.

MANDATORY FIRST ENTRY:

Leave me a comment and tell me what you are doing in your household to “go green.”  That’s it.  Simple enough isn’t it?

Click here for your additional entry opportunities and contest rules.

This contest will run until Wednesday, April 22, 2009.  Earth Day.  Entries must be received by 11:59pm, Pacific Time.  Winner will be announced on April 23rd and notified by email.  They will then have 72 hours to reply.  Good luck!

Wow! I loved your video too! You did a great job! I would LOVE to win one of these. We are trying to be more green here at the Scott household. We are recycling, and I have recently switched all of our lightbulbs in our house to those new energy wise ones. (you know, the funny shaped ones…LOL) Anyway, we also (out of neccesity) replaced our old water heater with a more energy wise, flow demand water heater. So, there you go that is a few of the changes we have mad here to be more ‘Green’
As a mom to 6 kids, I would love (and need) to win this. Thank you for the opportunity.

We are trying to go green by doing things such as using a floor steamer on our carpets and linoleum instead of using harmful chemicals. This way, we only have to use water and the power of steam to clean…it’s great! For other parts of the house, we use eco-friendly cleaning products.

Thanks for the chance. I have been wanting one of these to spot clean our carpets.

Hello, What a fabulous prize giveaway drawing! I could certainly use this green cleaning machine in our home. Our carpeted stairway that goes upstairs gets dirty constantly. I sit on each step trying to remove spots. Our family made a commitment early in the year to become more green. We are taking baby steps. We turned down the temperature on the water heater and take no longer than 5 minute showers! Also, we turned down the thermostat and wore warmer clothes indoors. We have always recycled and we now each have our own reusable water bottle.
Hopefully, we will continue to become more eco-conscious. Please enter my name in your fantastic giveaway prize drawing.
Many thanks, Cindi

I actually had been living green long before it was fashionable. I always recycled, I never leave lights on when no one is in the room, and I have been cleaning with simple green products for many years. Thats just a few of the things I did.
I could really use this machine. I have a full size bissell shampooer, but for little spots and stains, the little green machine would be much handier!

When it came time to get a new washing machine, I bought a high efficiency model that uses less water plus I have tried to start being more aware of what I throw away-whether it can be recycled, composted or passed on to a friend. Thank you for the chance to win! Jeff

154 Stephanie V April 5, 2009 at 12:11 pm

We are going green by recycling, using low energy bulbs, and using SIGGS instead of plastic bottles

155 Janice Whitaker April 5, 2009 at 12:12 pm

We recycle and I am currently looking into the new green cleaning products>

156 Laurie April 5, 2009 at 12:13 pm

We are using our own reusable bags when we shop instead of taking new plastic ones at the store. Does that count as being green? I need one of these badly!

157 Laurie April 5, 2009 at 12:17 pm
158 Jeremy April 5, 2009 at 12:29 pm

I hang most of my laundry to dry rather than using the dryer. We rarely use the dishwasher anymore, since it uses more water and electricity than just washing dishes in the sink. We use CFL bulbs for lighting and unplug most electronics when not in use.

The photo of your son in the box is priceless… my kids love boxes too, as did I as a child. There is just so much possibility with a box.

159 Linda Lansford April 5, 2009 at 12:34 pm

I buy less and recycle more

160 A Casson April 5, 2009 at 12:40 pm

We recycle paper, plastic, glass and cans. We have replaced bulbs with energy efficient ones. Conserving on water and not using the car so much and when we do we make one round trip and do errands all at one time if possible. skyxsky27(at)gmail.com

161 Christina April 5, 2009 at 12:41 pm

I would love one of those! We try to recycle everything possible: cans, paper, cardboard, acceptable plastics. We actually have more recycle-ables then trash every week. We even try to look for products that are better for the enviroment when shopping.

162 jes April 5, 2009 at 12:44 pm

no plastic bags (cloth ones!) and no plastic water bottles! :)

163 Cathy W. April 5, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I am doing grocery shopping once every 2 weeks. I was going every 3 -4 days. I am not using plastic grocery bags anymore. I am not buying bottled water. I have just started recycling. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

No longer eating from the slaughterhouse – we have gone vegan and eating green

190 Yasmine April 5, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Using bins when we go grocery shopping instead of taking home plastic bags. We always recycle what we can-our city has FINALLY began a recycling program -we recived our new recyling bins today (exciting! no more driving out to recycle!)

id love to have this with my twin toddlers, im afraid to get new carpet because of them- who knows how long our ‘new’ carpet would stay ‘new’. My mom would also love this she has a LOT of family traffic in and out the house
thanks for the chance=]

For many years we have been recycling glass, plastic and cardboard but now we are trying to eliminate using paper towels in my house.
We use old news papers to wash windows with and this works great because it doesn’t leave lint on the windows and we use old rags to dust with. Thanks for Sharing this review & giveaway :)

214 alisha April 5, 2009 at 5:49 pm

So far we’ve changed to fluorescent bulbs and have cut back on paper towel usage. About to switch to all Method cleaning products! =)

We found going GREEN fun and easy!

Our city has started an all in one large recycling bin program. We find it gets filled faster then the small bin ever did. We also donate our newspapers to schools, stores, and people in need of packing material.

All our lights are energy savers and we try and use mother natures central heat/cooling system (window) or keep the house at a standard temp rather then constantly fiddling with the control pad.

Instead of tossing out our lawn waste we mulch it to fill in our flower beds and “low” lawn spots.

Meals are planned out so we cut down on food waste and extra shopping trips.

My in-laws are big into DIY projects, so there are always homemade items to pass around or “scraps” to be had.

309 Vicki April 9, 2009 at 8:07 am

I recycled everything possible – paper, plastic, cans, bottles, etc. I’ve also switched to using bio degradable garbage bags and poop bags (for the dog).

I’ve tried to change my cleaning products to more earth friendly ones where I can.

And I always work on reducing, reusing, and recycling! Go Earth! :)

Yes we are green, and green can mean joys!
We recycle books, plastic, paper, and toys,
We bicycle to the library, we read about the Earth,
And we are aware of organic worth,
We conserve water, we shut off lights,
We grow vegetables and look at stars on clear nights….
All we need is a Bissell green machine now,
It would have a green family , and fit in, and how!

We are re placing most of our lightbulbs with the eco friendly kind. I don’t use them in main rooms overhead though because the light is too dim for me…they are making incredible advances in them though, so I am sure that soon they will have brighter “green” bulbs.

336 Aggie April 10, 2009 at 12:59 pm

I have been changing out my light bulbs with eco friendly bulbs as the old ones burn out. Instead of throwing the burnt out bulbs in the trash, I am saving them to make Christmas ornaments. I am also using the resuable bags to do my shopping. I keep the bags in my truck so they are all handy.

I have rescue animals: 2 dogs and 10 cats. The cats are frequently getting up hair balls and that is really a chore to clean, so a Little Green would really help me with that.

The environment is an important issue to us. We recycle mostly everything that we can.: cans, plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, books, etc. We have a compost pile. We had one last year and the soil is so rich now for our garden. We have changed the oill in our vans to full synthetic which adds great fuel economy. We changed from regular light bulbs to flourescent in all of our lamps and anything else that takes a light bulb when these lights first came out. To conserve energy, we either cook in a microwave/browning oven or outside on our grill. I have not used my stove in over three years. Thank you for your wonderful giveaway.

368 Marianna April 12, 2009 at 2:17 pm

The things that we’re doing to “Go Green” in our house…I switched all of our lightbulbs months ago to the energy saving kind, we only turn on lights when we need them. We’re keeping the windows open as much as possible and only turning on the a/c at night. All laundry gets done in cold water. Most clothes get hung up to dry and those that don’t, as soon as the dryer beeps signaling it’s done, we turn it off. Don’t let the water run while brushing teeth, and I’ve made the twins stopping singing in the shower to cut down on shower times. As my current cleaning products get used up, I’m going to switch to those natural, refillable ones. I’ve also gone to paperless billing for as many bills as I can and all those papers the kids bring home from school that are blank on the back make great scrap paper!

We turn off the lights when not in the room, take less then 5 minutes for showers, use green cleaners, use less energy bulbs. Plus lots more I probably can’t think of.

I’m recycling more and using my green bags at every any store. If I need to have bags from the store I use the plastic ones as liners for my small trashcans at home.

I am trying hard to go greener. I have started growing my own veggies. I have decided to NOT buy products where the packaging cannot be recycled. And I am composting.

We only drink filtered tap water now–no more bottled water waste!

I’ve reduced my dependence on paper towels by using old t-shirts torn into rags.

488 Linda April 18, 2009 at 12:05 pm

We have changed all our lightbulbs out, we make as few trips as possible in the car, we are trying to buy green products, and we are freecycling what we don’t use anymore.

We have changed all of our bulbs to CFL’s, installed a low flow shower head, with a shut off so you can turn it off to suds up, and I don’t use my clothes dryer at all, We hang every thing up either out side or in the spare room. I also try not to use any thing that is plastic, and we are planting a garden. Thanks.
