I am 36 years old. I have never plucked, waxed or otherwise modified my eyebrows. Ever. Until yesterday.
I went with my mom to get a pedicure. While at the salon, I started chatting with the esthetition (BTW – her name is Carla and she works for Ramona Nails…ya know. Just in case you live nearby). I don’t even remember how we came upon the subject of waxing. But I mentioned that I had never had anything waxed. She was so surprised. Is it really that uncommon? We chatted about it. I told her I had no plans of subjecting myself to that much pain for something that wasn’t important to me. My eyebrows were fine.
She tells me that it really doesn’t hurt.
Yeah, Right.
Then she tells me that if I can give birth to triplets, then I could certainly endure having my eyebrows waxed.
She had a point.
I had always wondered about it. I’ve even thought about having it done. But I figured my eyebrows were not unruly, so why mess with them? Why start on a habit that cost money and time. Because once I started, I surely would have to maintain them. Did I want that commitment?
She only charged $12.00.
You only have to have them re-waxed every couple months.
Well, I guess I could afford $12.00 and 10 minutes of my life every few months now couldn’t I?
I walked my newly painted toes into her room and lied down. It was over in 10 minutes. Really. It was nothing. And it hardly hurt. Don’t take me wrong…it’s not like it tickled or anything. But was certainly endurable. She was fast.
Then she handed me the mirror. WOW! I was so surprised at the difference! She was all giggly at me and pleased with herself for creating a new convert.
I think I will be going in and waxing them regularly now. It’s my attempt to make more “me” time and take better care of myself. Being a SAHM is hard work and as mom’s we don’t have a lot of time for ourselves. So I will go get my eyebrows waxed. I’m trying to lose weight. I started taking some vitamins, too.
If you want something cheap that you can do for yourself…get your eyebrows waxed. I feel pretty today.
Oh, and here is the before and after picture. It’s not HUGELY obvious…but that’s a good thing, no?
PS – The title “Bushwhacked” is a little joke I have with some other twin mommies. Someone refered to her eyebrows as “bushy” and they were getting them whacked. Hence we went off with “bushwhacked.” I know it sounds like it should be something else….but it’s not.

It looks great. I get mine done although I have to admit I don’t keep them up really well. You may also notice that you usually need to get them done every 2-3 weeks. Well at least I should, but it usually ends up being every 1-2 months. Oops.
I think you look great before and you look GREAT after. You have GREAT eye brows to begin with, and BEAUTIFUL eye lashes!!!
I have NO lashes!! I mean they are SKIMPY to the point of embarassment! I have an appointment with my Dr. to talk to her about the New Medication Latisse. No joke. I am tired of my ugly Lashes!
But YOU do look GREAT!!!
Enjoy your new BROWS MISSY!!! hahah
Leslie
I am so glad you treated yourself. Definitely take the time out for yourself! Can you believe we have to get our eyebrows waxed to “justify” making time for ourselves?
That came out great!
I’ve only had my eyebrows waxed once and will NEVER do it again. My skin is too sensitive. I looked like I had a permanent red eye shadow on for 3 days because of the redness it caused my skin.
Wow I want your eyelashes! Mine are short.. and blonde. I have long eyelash envy.
Nice job on the waxing. You are a braver person than I.
After your new experience you need to read this. http://www.mommysjoy.com/2009/04/24/the-story-that-brought-tears-to-my-eyes/ I posted it a few weeks ago but the laughter will last forever!
