GIVEAWAY ~ Log Cabin Syrup is Kicking it Old School (CLOSED)

I don’t know about you, but I really never paid attention to high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) before I had kids.  Heck, I didn’t pay that much attention to it until my 4 year old started driving me crazy!  He’s so hyper and intense.  I started wondering if it had anything to do with what was going into his system.  You hear people talk about the red dyes in food and artificial this and that’s.  The top of the list of “no-no’s” is HFCS.

So I accepted the opportunity to try the new Log Cabin Syrup with no High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Log Cabin is the first National syrup brand to remove HFCS and replace it with natural sugar.

From the Pinnacle Foods press release:

“The reformulation was driven by growing consumer concerns about HFCS.  Consumers are increasingly concerned about the ubiquity of HFCS at the shelf.  Several other top brands have removed or looked into the removal of HFCS in their products.

Log Cabin recognizes the importance of offering table syrup with natural sugar and our consumers preferred the taste with natural sugar.”

logcabinThe consumers in this household loved the new Log Cabin Syrup!  We are a huge pancake and french toast family.  I make them (almost) every weekend.  The boys scarfed their pancakes just like always, never the wiser that their syrup was healthier.  But mommy felt better knowing that they were not ingesting any nasty HFCS.

Log Cabin even sent me a recipe to try.  I haven’t made it yet, but it sounds delish so I thought I would share.

Apple Pecan Baked Pancake (serves 4)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 C. favorite pancake mix
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 C. Granny Smith Apple, peeled & sliced
  • 1/3 C. chopped pecans
  • 3 C. Log Cabin Syrup (maybe seems like a lot?)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Prepare pancake mix according to package directions and set aside.  Pour melted butter in a 9″ pie plate.  Place apple slices in the bottom of pie plate.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and pecans and drizzle syrup over apples.  Carefully pour batter on top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until top springs back when touched.  Loosed edges and invert onto a serving plate.  Cut in wedges and serve with warm maple syrup and/or fresh apple butter.  Serves 4-6.  Good served with sausage links.

So now that you know about this great product, go buy it! It’s available at stores across the country in the breakfast isle!  You’ll feel better feeding it to your kids, that’s for sure.

Wanna WIN some?

Log Cabin Syrup  is letting me give a bottle away for one of my monkey readers to try and love for themselves!

My all time favorite breakfast is a bowl of oatmeal with just a little sugar and milk – not out of a microwave but cooked on the stove – with toast and orange juice.
