I LOVE cereal!  My favorite’s are the super sugary kids cereals.  I can’t help it.  I can eat Lucky Charms any time of day.  So when the nice people from MojaMix.com asked me to try their custom-mixed cereals, I happily accepted.

A little about the owners:

Our names are Norberto and Thomas. Both originally from Europe, we first met in business school. We bonded over our love of the perfect breakfast—which to us means having something intensely delicious as well as nutritious. Gradually, we found a way to turn our passion into a business. Today, MojaMix is based in Berkeley, California. Being in the golden state allows us to work with the sustainable local farmers who grow most of our ingredients. Our employees love it here, too—and making them happy is just as important to us as pleasing our customers.

Now Moja Mix is not your typical sugary kids cereal.  Not at all.  They are fun cereal’s that you make yourself.  They have TONS’s of different mix-in’s and you pick and choose whatever you want.  There are “hundreds of millions” of possibilities.  As far as your imagination!  All of the combination’s are delicious as well as nutritious.

Moja Mix makes it very easy to create your own cereal or you can choose from popular  pre-mixed favorites.

I had fun with this part.

I created “Monkey Chow.”  What else did you think I would call it? “Monkey Chow” is mix number 10298 if you want to try it yourself.

“Monkey Chow” is comprised of:

• Chocolate Chomp (Oat Flakes, Cocoa Pops, Wheat Flakes, Chocolate Chips, and Oat Bran)
• Banana Chips (Dried and enrobed in honey)
• Raw Cocoa Nibs (Raw cocoa beans that are lightly crushed)  YUMO!

This was some seriously delicious cereal!  I loved the big pieces of sweet banana and the Cocoa Nibs were SO freaking good.  I didn’t even know what a Cocoa Nib was until now.  This mix was very chocolaty and plenty sweet for this girl’s sweet tooth.  I hid my bag of cereal so the kids wouldn’t ask for any.

The only thing I found wrong with this fun to create and delicious to eat cereal, was the price.  Now, I got my sample bag provided for free.  But had I paid, it would have been over $9.00 for 12 oz. of cereal (shipping included).  That 12 oz of cereal didn’t really last long.  The official servings were supposed to be 6-7 but I ate the bag in 3 bowls.  So I was very sad that it didn’t last long.  Of course, this is my problem and it may not be a big deal for you.  I usually buy whatever cereal I have coupons for so I don’t spend more than $2.00 a box.  So this price tag would be a little steep for me to keep Monkey Chow in stock on a regular basis.

But considering that  Moja Mix’s ingredients are mostly organic, locally sourced and 100% natural, than perhaps it’s worth every penny to feed this to your family.

Or buy some only for yourself and hide it from the kids.

Just sayin’.
