Post image for GIVEAWAY/REVIEW ~ Little Husks Tableware Set (CLOSED)

The Little Husks Tableware Set sold by Simply Good Stuff is simply AWESOME!

Read what the website says:

Little Husks tableware for kids are constructed from a plastic like material that is formed from 100% natural fibers. It is made from rice husks which are a plant byproduct that would otherwise be burned or thrown away. This all natural material ends up being super durable and incredibly functional, but also remains totally safe and 100% biodegradable. You can put them in the microwave and dishwasher and use them just like any other dish.

My Little Husks Tableware Set arrived at my house courtesy of Simply Good Stuff.  I was immediately surprised by how they looked.  They looked just like any other plastic dish set (minus the commercial TV character images).  They were sturdy, hard and seemed really durable.  I am still amazed that these dishes are 100% biodegradable.

First things first, though.  They came plastered with “care instruction” stickers that were a PAIN in the butt to remove.  Very sticky.  I actually emailed my company contact to ask if they knew about it.  They do and are working on a solution.  I was afraid to try acetone (fingernail polish remover) for fear of damaging the biodegradable plates.  “All Natural” and chemical paint removers didn’t seem like they would work well together.  But as a last resort, I tried it.  It helped, but wouldn’t remove the sticky completely.  It took some good old fashioned elbow grease from my husband to get them off.

stickyplate Honestly though, these dishes are so great that it was okay.  After we started using them I realized how much I love them.

  • BPA, PVC and Phthalate FREE (100% non-toxic).
  • Microwave safe (unlike the traditional children’s dishes made out of that melamine stuff).
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Biodegradable yet extremely durable (very cool combination).
  • Natural color ensures no added dyes and chemicals.

I LOVE that I can put them in the microwave.  My kids have so many “kid” dishes that are not safe in there.  It’s a pain to fix chicken dinosaurs on one dish and then serve on another…now I don’t have to.

I LOVE that these dishes are natural and biodegradable.  Better for the planet, great for the “green” and “crunchy” mammas out there.

I HATE that I have to buy more sets because one just isn’t enough!  (kidding…).

I wish the little bowl was just a little bit bigger (I have boys, they eat like horses).

Where to Purchase (you know you want to!):

The complete set includes:  Soup bowl, sectioned dinner plate, spaghetti plate, drinking cup, fork and spoon.  The set can be purchased at www.simplygoodstuff.com for $26.95 or you can purchase the pieces individually.
