Well folks, it’s been exactly one month since I last washed my hair with shampoo. You know what? I LOVE it!
Now, I wouldn’t say I am getting lots of compliments or that my hair looks healthier or anything like that. I think it’s still early and all my damaged ends still need trimmed up. I don’t think others can tell any difference. But I sure feel the difference. My hair feels thicker, has more curls and just cooperates better since I ditched the suds. I’m really amazed at the difference.
In the shower, it feels softer and more silky. It used to be that I would have to put a TON of leave in conditioner to even get a comb through, but now it’s really easy to comb and I don’t have a ton of hair falling out either.
So one month out of my No Poo Experiment, and I’m very pleasantly surprised. No stinky hair, no scaly head, and more importantly, no dreads.
Just remind me next time to put some makeup on before I take a photo for the blog. *egads!*

Wow, I’m so impressed! Maybe when I grow the bangs out, I’ll give this a try. Congrats!!
I’ve been doing no-poo for about 2 months now and I love it. My hair is so curly now instead of frizzy. I’ve certainly had a lot less breakage. I’m going to get my hair trimmed at the salon this month sometime and I’m kind of interested in the stylists reaction.
I know you were no-poo. I saw a comment of yours on a thread somewhere and that’s what inspired me to try.
Oh awesome!
I kept thinking that everyone was grossed out by that. *laughs*
This is so intriguing to me I think I may have to look into that more deeply! I just use shampoo but no conditioner I have straight hair but it falls out every shower
OK… I know there is crap in shampoo that is awful for you hair and scalp, but how do you get the oils out.
Your hair will adjust itself. It produces extra oil now because we are always washing it out. When you stop washing, you might have a few weeks of weird/oily hair (I didn’t) and then it figures itself out. It catches up and stops producing. My hair would be oily and gross after 2 days before but now it’s never oily at all. It’s really quite a trip!
If your hair gets oily and gross put a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup and fill the cup with water. Dump that on your head and scrub around with your fingertips. Rinse. Put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup, fill it with water then pour that on your hair. Comb it through and leave it for a couple minutes, rinse thoroughly. Don’t do that more than twice a week.
Rest of the time you can either rinse with water if you don’t have oily hair or use your fingers to run a washcloth through your hair about 100 times. The washcloth will redistribute your hair oils.
Sorry about the novel!
So you don’t use shampoo at all? Do you wet and go? I wash and condition my hair every day and I couldn’t imagine not doing so. The only time I may miss a may be on the weekend if for some reason I don’t shower at all and that is VERY rare. I can’t wrap my mind around not shampooing at all. How does it work?
I have not had shampoo on my head in one month. Just water. About once a week, I will do a baking soda and vinegar rinse. Not sure if it’s really necessary, but it makes me feel like I am taking care of my hygiene. lol
It was strange at first but I’ve gotten used to it and my hair really is looking so much better!
I have to admit that I did turn up my nose when you mentioned it, but that is just so cool that it’s really working. Not sure I can do it…but maybe some day.
Oh wow, a whole month without shampoo? My hair gets so oily after just a day that I have to shampoo daily! The thought of going shampooless is pretty intriguing though. Maybe I’ll give it a try in the summer when I don’t have to go to work so that I can hid it under a hat if it doesn’t work for me
