Walking and Fundraising and Walking, oh My!

Quick Recap in case you missed it:  I have a mysterious pain in my right foot.  It’s the top of my foot, in line with my big toe.  All indicators suggest a stress fracture, but my doctor took X-rays and told me it’s “fine.”  So I spent about 10 days off of it “resting” and I now have a handy prescription for Motrin. Fast forward to this week.  Motrin doesn’t do squat for the pain in my foot and it’s not going away. This is where I really want...

It’s Not Broke!

I called my family doctor yesterday to find out the results of my foot x-rays.  Turns out I DO NOT have a stress fracture! **HAPPY DANCE** Of course they have no idea what is wrong with my foot and I should just try to “rest” it. Um…yeah.  Okay. Not. Don’t they know I have a 60 mile walk to train for?  I must Keep Going®! They did call me in a prescription, but it was only for Motrin.  I don’t know about you, but Motrin doesn’t do much for...

Did You Come to Our Bake Sale?

If you did not come, then you missed out!  We had a table full of goodies.  I thought we would not have enough, but we ended up with a ton of leftovers.  People are seriously amazing and even though they may not have wanted a baked good, they would still drop, $5, $10 or sometimes $20 into our donation bucket. My favorite people that came through was a fire fighting team from Sacramento.  I’m not sure why they were down here since we don’t currently have any fires….?  I...

Should I Laugh or Cry?

I mentioned the excruciating pain that I have been having in my foot the other day.  Went to the doctor today.  More than likely, I have a stress fracture. I tried calling my OB/GYN office two days in a row to find out about scheduling a biopsy for my “tooma” (It’s not a tooma).  They have yet to receive my radiology report from the breast ultrasound I had on Tuesday. *sigh* I’m feeling a little lost right now. On one hand.  I really want to cry.  My foot hurts. ...

Training for a 60 Mile Walk is Hard

I took on the daunting task of training for the 3 Day for the Cure® hoping that it would be a great way for me to lose weight, get healthy and also fight for an important cause.  I have been preparing.  I have been walking.  I have been trying to learn all that I can so that I can do this successfully. It’s not been as easy as I thought it would be. I am overweight, so even walking has been hard.  I am having problems with my knee. ...

Let’s Cheer for the Twin City 3 Day Walkers!

The New Balance Cheerleaders at the Boston 3 Day Walk! Photo:  Susan G. Komen3-Day for the Cure Facebook Page I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to share the spectator and cheering information with you for the previous walks.  But if you are not participating as a walker in the Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure®, then you should at least head down and cheer the walkers on! Most (if not all) walkers have dedicated several months of their life to prepare for walking 60...

My 3 Day for the Cure Interview With Brian Gardner

I’m (obviously) a blogger.  And like so many other bloggers out there, I am in a constant state of searching for the perfect blog theme (or template).  If you’ve hung around here any time at all, you will already know that I change my templates…often.  And once upon a time (towards the beginning of my blogging career) I sported a StudioPress theme.  “Lifestyle” to be exact.  StudioPress is very popular with bloggers and you can see their beautiful WordPress themes throughout the blogosphere. The CEO of StudioPress is Brian...
